Celebrity attorney Ugo Lord, an expert in tenant-landlord law, commented on the video, emphasizing that one of the most crucial aspects of habitability is ensuring the air inside a home is safe to breathe. This was in response to the question of whether a tenant must buy an air purifier. He further clarified that it is the landlord’s legal obligation to change the filters in the home. 

Suppose you live in an area with excess dust, pollen, or pollution. If the landlord fails to do that, you must have an air verification system, like the air purifier in the video, to clean the air. He also said that you can legally ask the landlord to pay for tenant air purification rights. 

You have legal options if you have notified your landlord about a dust problem on your rented property and they have not taken any action. In some states, you may even be allowed to deduct the cost of an air purification system from your rent. Remember, your landlord’s responsible for providing a safe and healthy living environment as that is part of tenant air purification rights.
